Sherman M4A3E2 “Jumbo”
750 bricks • 2 figures • Age 9+ • Historical Collection: WWII
The Sherman M4A3E2 “Jumbo” was a heavily armored variant of the Sherman, of which only 254 units were built. These tanks featured extra armor and were armed with a 75mm gun (later upgraded to a 76mm), mounted on a modified M62 mount.
The most famous example, “Cobra King”, was assigned to the 37th Tank Battalion and made history during the Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944. It was the first tank to break through German lines and reach the besieged soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division in Bastogne. To commemorate this, the crew painted special graffiti on the tank – a detail COBI has accurately reproduced using durable pad-prints.
Today, the original Cobra King has been restored and is on display at the Patton Museum in Fort Benning, Georgia. A replica stands in Bastogne to honor this historic moment.
