The Brandenburg Gate is located in the heart of Berlin, at the western end of the Unter den Linden boulevard. It stands near Pariser Platz and is one of the most important entry points to the city’s historic center. The gate was built at the end of the 18th century as a neoclassical triumphal arch. Construction took place between 1788 and 1791, commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia. The Brandenburg Gate has a central arch flanked by smaller pedestrian arches on either side. The structure is decorated with six Doric columns on each side of the central arch, creating a grand and stately appearance. The Quadriga, a sculpture of a chariot drawn by four horses, crowns the gate and symbolizes victory.
