The V-1 Flying Bomb (Fieseler Fi 103) set in 1:35 scale allows you to create one of the most groundbreaking inventions of World War II: the V-1 rocket, also known as the “flying bomb”.
The V-1 was designed by German engineer Fritz Gosslau and was the first weapon to combine the characteristics of an aircraft and a rocket, laying the foundation for later ballistic missiles.
Powered by a jet engine, the V-1 reached speeds of up to 640 km/h and had a range of 250 km, enabling attacks on targets in Great Britain. The first attacks on London took place in the summer of 1944. The rocket used a simple navigation system based on an odometer, allowing it to reach its target accurately.
The V-1 was primarily produced in Germany, in special factories in Peenemünde, and later at other secret locations in occupied Europe. In addition to London and the English coast, V-1 rockets were used to bomb cities such as Antwerp and Lille.
The V-1 was part of the German “V” vengeance weapon program and was the prototype for later rockets like the V-2. Although less effective than the V-2, the V-1 had enormous demoralizing potential. After the war, this technology had a major influence on the development of ballistic missiles in the USA and the USSR.
