Tiger II “King Tiger” – the mighty German tank
The Tiger II, also known as the King Tiger, was one of the heaviest German tanks of World War II. For the first time in the COBI collection, this impressive tank has been released in 1:35 scale, featuring a colorful camouflage pattern typical of the later war period.
The model features moving wheels, working tracks, a rotating turret with a movable cannon, an opening hatch for a figure, a removable mini-engine, and many other realistic details. The set also includes a nameplate, allowing you to display the tank as a true museum piece.
History of the Tiger II
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B was deployed in 1944 and was among the most powerful tanks of its time. With 180 mm of frontal armor and the powerful 88mm KwK 43 L/71 gun, it was a formidable opponent. The vehicle weighed approximately 70 tons and was powered by a 700 hp Maybach HL230 P30 engine, enabling speeds of up to 38 km/h.
Despite its impressive combat performance, the Tiger II suffered from many technical issues, including frequent engine and chassis failures. Its complex design and high production costs made the tank rare; only about 492 units were produced. The Tiger II played a role in major battles such as the Battle of the Bulge and the Eastern Front, and had a significant psychological impact on the battlefield.
