The Junkers Ju 87 Stuka is one of the most recognizable aircraft of World War II. With its characteristic inverted gull wings in a “W” shape and its role as a notorious dive bomber, the Stuka became a Luftwaffe icon.
First flights took place in 1935, and the Stuka was first deployed in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. In the following years, this aircraft proved its deadly effectiveness in Poland, Scandinavia, France, Crete, and during Operation Barbarossa. The B-2 variant was specially adapted for operations in North Africa and featured a striking tropical camouflage.
