COBI Concorde G-BBDG Supersonic Passenger Aircraft
455 bricks | 1:95 Scale
The Concorde is a supersonic passenger aircraft developed by companies from both France and the United Kingdom. The aircraft made its first flight in 1969. It entered service seven years later – a service that lasted 27 years.
The Concorde primarily flew on transatlantic routes. From London Heathrow (British Airways) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France) to JFK New York and Dulles Washington. Thanks to its record speeds, flights took only half the time of traditional aircraft. Due to high production costs and expensive operation, only 20 units were produced. The Concorde’s final flight took place on 26 November 2003.
From the world of COBI comes a model of the Concorde G-BBDG, a supersonic passenger aircraft used as a test model by British Airways. The aircraft flew for years as a test plane and was never entered into commercial service. Later, it was used as a parts donor for other Concordes in service. Since 2003, this aircraft has been on display at the Brooklands Museum (Weybridge).
